Helping little hearts feel calm, balanced and full of light. ✨
Because little souls need time to recharge too.
Children are such beautiful little souls. They come into this world full of innocence, curiosity, wonder and their own unique little light.
As a Reiki practitioner, and a mum myself, I have a very special love for sharing Reiki with children. I understand just how precious childhood is and how important it is for little ones to feel loved, safe, understood and supported as they grow.
I see children as beautiful, pure souls, naturally full of light. There is something incredibly special about their openness, their imagination and the way they connect with the world around them.
I feel truly blessed to introduce them to the beautiful practice of Reiki, helping them discover the importance of taking time for themselves, finding moments of calm and connecting with their own inner light.
Growing up brings so many new experiences. Children are constantly learning, discovering, feeling, changing and navigating a world that can sometimes feel a little overwhelming.
Just like us, they can have days when they feel tired, worried, unsettled or simply not quite themselves.
Sometimes their little energy batteries need a recharge too.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, calming practice that works with universal life energy, the energy that flows through all living things and connects us to the world around us.
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words: “Rei”, meaning universal, and “Ki”, meaning life energy.
Everything in the universe is made up of energy. Reiki connects us with this universal energy, offering time to slow down, restore our energy and bring a greater sense of balance and harmony to ourselves.
It is a beautiful way to nurture our mind, body and spirit, creating space for peace, calm and reconnection.
During a Reiki session, I work with the body's energy centres, known as chakras. These centres are connected to different aspects of our wellbeing. Reiki brings attention to these energy centres and supports a sense of balance, harmony and inner peace.
Understanding the Seven Chakras
Our body has seven main energy centres, known as chakras. Each chakra is associated with different qualities and aspects of our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
Our energy is constantly influenced by the world around us. Everyday experiences, thoughts, words we hear, people we interact with, relationships, fears, worries and emotions can all influence how we feel and how our energy flows.
Children are especially open to the world around them. As they grow, they are continually absorbing information and experiences, often without fully understanding or knowing how to process everything they encounter.
Social media, television programmes, films, online content, video games and even stories or images they come across in the news can have an impact on their little minds. They may see or hear things that create confusion, worry, fear or anxiety, even when they don't always express those feelings or understand where they are coming from.
The words spoken around them, the behaviour they witness, friendships, school experiences and the energy of the people they spend time with can also influence how they feel within themselves.
All of these experiences can affect a child's sense of safety, confidence, emotional balance and inner peace. From an energetic perspective, these influences can disturb the natural flow of energy through their chakras, leaving them feeling unsettled, overwhelmed or out of balance.
Sometimes children may not have the words to explain what they are feeling. They may simply seem quieter, more emotional, worried, restless or not quite themselves.
This is where Reiki offers a beautiful opportunity to pause, step away from the outside noise and give them time to relax, recharge and reconnect with themselves.
Each chakra has its own unique qualities, and during a Reiki session I work with these energy centres to encourage balance, harmony and a natural flow of energy. From an energetic perspective, each chakra is connected to different areas of the physical body. When energy becomes unsettled or out of balance, it may be reflected in how we feel physically. For example, the throat chakra is associated with the throat and neck, while the solar plexus is connected with the stomach and digestive area. Reiki works gently with these energy centres, encouraging balance, relaxation and a sense of harmony throughout the body.
The Seven Chakras
1. Root Chakra – Feeling Safe and Secure
Located at the base of the spine, the root chakra is associated with safety, security, stability and feeling grounded.
For children, this relates to feeling safe, settled, supported and comfortable in their surroundings.
Changes at home or school, uncertainty, worries about separation or unfamiliar situations can sometimes leave children feeling unsettled.
2. Sacral Chakra – Emotions and Creativity
Located just below the navel, the sacral chakra is associated with emotions, creativity, joy and connection.
It relates to how children express their feelings, enjoy play, explore their imagination and connect with others.
Difficult emotions, changes in relationships, feeling left out or struggling to express themselves can affect this area.
3. Solar Plexus Chakra – Confidence and Self-Belief
Located around the upper abdomen, the solar plexus chakra is associated with confidence, personal strength, self-esteem and empowerment.
For children, this is connected to believing in themselves, feeling capable and having the confidence to be who they are.
Fear, anxiety, self-doubt, comparison with others, pressure or feeling criticised can affect their sense of confidence and inner strength.
4. Heart Chakra – Love and Compassion
Located in the centre of the chest, the heart chakra is associated with love, kindness, compassion, connection and acceptance.
It relates to a child's ability to give and receive love, form meaningful connections and feel loved and valued.
Friendship difficulties, arguments, rejection, loss or feeling misunderstood can bring up emotions connected to the heart.
5. Throat Chakra – Communication and Self-Expression
Located around the throat, this chakra is associated with communication, honesty and expressing ourselves.
For children, it relates to finding their voice, sharing their thoughts and feelings, speaking up and feeling listened to.
Being afraid to speak, feeling unheard, holding in emotions or struggling to communicate can affect their confidence in expressing themselves.
6. Third Eye Chakra – Intuition and Clarity
Located between the eyebrows, the third eye chakra is associated with intuition, imagination, awareness and inner clarity.
For children, this connects with their wonderful imagination, curiosity, creativity and ability to explore the world around them.
Overthinking, worries, fear, too much stimulation or feeling overwhelmed can make it harder to find moments of quiet and clarity.
7. Crown Chakra – Connection and Spiritual Awareness
Located at the top of the head, the crown chakra is associated with spiritual connection, universal energy, inner peace and a sense of belonging.
It represents our connection to something greater than ourselves and the beautiful sense of unity that Reiki brings.
For children, this can be about feeling connected, peaceful, open and in tune with their own inner light.
Bringing the Energy Centres into Balance
Each chakra is unique, yet all seven work together as part of the body's energy system.
During a Reiki session, I work with these energy centres, allowing time and space for the energy to flow and encouraging a sense of balance and harmony throughout.
My intention is to create a peaceful experience where children can relax, reconnect with themselves and enjoy a little time to recharge their mind, body and spirit.
A Little Time to Recharge
Think of a mobile phone. When we use it throughout the day, the battery gradually runs down. Eventually, it needs to be plugged in and recharged.
Children are a little like that too.
They use so much energy every day learning, playing, socialising, exploring and experiencing new things. Their little minds and bodies are constantly taking in the world around them. Reiki gives them a special opportunity to switch off, rest and recharge.
It creates a peaceful space where children can simply be themselves, allowing them time to relax and reconnect with their own natural sense of calm.
The Benefits of Reiki for Children
Reiki offers children a gentle opportunity to pause, recharge and reconnect with themselves. In a world where little ones are constantly learning, growing and taking in new experiences, having time to slow down and simply relax can be incredibly valuable.

What Happens During a Children's Reiki Session?
Every session includes three important parts: a gentle introduction, the Reiki treatment itself and a little chat afterwards.
I want both the child and parent to feel comfortable, relaxed and familiar with the experience. It's important to me that everyone understands what will happen and has the opportunity to ask questions.
Before the Reiki Session
We begin with a relaxed introduction, where I explain what Reiki is in a simple, age-appropriate way and talk through what will happen during the session.
This is also a chance for parents to share anything they feel I should know and for the child to become familiar with the space.
I take time to make sure the child feels comfortable, reassured and ready before we begin.
During the Reiki Session
The child can come dressed in their usual comfortable clothing. They will lie on the treatment couch, with a soft pillow and blanket to help them feel cosy and relaxed.
I begin by gently tapping a singing bowl. The beautiful sound and vibrations help create a peaceful atmosphere, bringing a sense of calm and relaxation into the space.
Relaxing Reiki or meditation music will play quietly in the background.
Throughout the treatment, my hands always remain above the child's body. There is no hands-on touching.
I work with the child's energy, allowing them time to relax and receive Reiki in a calm, nurturing environment.
The actual Reiki treatment time is adapted to the child's age and needs. For babies and toddlers, this will usually be around 10 minutes, while older children and teenagers may enjoy up to 30 minutes.
After the Reiki Session
Once the treatment has finished, we take a little time to gently talk about the experience.
I explain what we've done, answer any questions and offer gentle guidance or suggestions to parents where appropriate.
This is an important part of the session. It gives parents the opportunity to understand more about the treatment, discuss their child's experience and receive any gentle advice I feel may be helpful.
Every child is different, so I always approach this conversation with care, sensitivity and an open mind.
A parent or guardian will be present throughout the session, and the child's comfort and willingness are always respected.
The aim is to make the whole experience calm, nurturing and reassuring — from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.
A Little Message to Parents
I understand just how precious every child is and how much parents want their little ones to feel happy, confident, safe and loved.
My intention is to provide a calm and nurturing space where children can take a little time for themselves, away from the busyness of everyday life.
Reiki gives children the opportunity to experience stillness, relaxation and a moment of connection with themselves. It's not about expecting children to be still or asking them to be anything other than who they are. It's about giving them the space to simply pause, breathe and enjoy some peaceful time.
I feel incredibly grateful to share this beautiful practice with children and to introduce them to the importance of looking after their own wellbeing from a young age.
Sometimes, the simplest thing we can give a child is a little time to pause, breathe and just be.
May your light shine, even through the cloudiest days.
Puja x
